Default Truck pan questions

I searched and didn't get any definitive answers, so here are my questions.

How much more fluid does the truck pan hold?

And what years should I be looking for? I understand some come with drain plugs and what not. What years come with what equipment?

Thanks.

The truck pan with the drain plug is no longer available from GM. I'm not sure which year that they stopped using this pan. The truck pan I believe holds about 2 extra quarts.

the drain plug is pretty useless anyway. I havent talked to an R&R guy yet that has successfully removed that plug with out damaging it.

I have the truck pan, off an '02 Silverado. Can't tell you what
year span all has the plug but mine does. It's at least another
quart. And I haven't found any trouble with the plug on mine
but it's been on and off a couple of times for fluid /filter and a
converter change.

I have a truck pan also with no drain plug problems..It takes a deeper filter and holds about one quart more...No idea what year its from...My trans builder had it laying around and we used it...

SOP for the deep pan began with the 1998 MY in the C/K trucks & G-Van. Use was expanded to the S/T trucks and M-Van in the 1999 MY. The drain plug began with the 1999 MY GMT800 C/K trucks. The idea was that commercial truck users would change their trans oil more often than the filter needed to be changed. Few in the product team felt it was a good idea, but the vehicle Sales & Marketing division was calling the shots on that one.
