Default 2-3 shift problem at WOT

This past weekend I made the trip up to my local 1/4 track to run the car. All I could muster was a 13.6 @ 104. But my problem was the car would not shift the 2-3 shift. I tried running the car in 3 and D but it made no difference. It hit the limiter at least 3 times every run. I had to let up on the gas a lot for it to shift. The weird thing is it shifts fine into 3rd on the street if I hit it from a roll. The car dose have 102K on the clock also. Is my trans on its way out or what? Could it be that I need to get the car tuned? Maybe just change the fluid? All input is greatly appreciated

My thought would be (based off the 3.42 gears listed in your sig) that you have some mph shift settings that are wrong. The WOT upshift/downshift speeds probably need to be lowered a bit. Has your car been tuned at all?

Well I would look at the shift command timing with a scanner and bear in mind that with that number of miles theres probably quite a bit of wear on the 3-4 pack and considerable clearance. While in the past the shift point may have been ok where it was set ,With the delay from comand to actual shift this may no longer be true. I would first look atthat then try lowering the 3d shift point , But more than likley the trans is just showing its wear.

One other thing you could try is to take your MAF sensor and flip it around and reinstall. If its tune related because of a screen removed it will shift. When the car runs lean the line pressures get softer. Flipping the MAF around will richen the fuel mixture and it will make the trans shift harder. Its a free test that will hurt engine performance but it will also give you a better idea of what you are up against.

mine has been doing the same thing, although last friday i was at the track and i fought it to the point where i found put it will shift pretty much perfect right before WOT, but at WOT it will never shift. and if i hit it WOT and try to let off a bit for the 2-3 it still wont, i gotta give it like 90% throttle and all the shifts feel decent, still not perfect. i just havent been able to decipher what this means, seems like a tuning issue now even though i've doubted that from day one.

I would agree if you can shift just off full throttle 90 percent ,That does sound like a tuning issue , I would lower the 2-3 shift time and rpm just a little .

the thing is my tuner played with the shifts a little before to try and fix the problem, i cant remember off hand but the shift points are fairly low now, he changed it about 3-4 times and it still did exactly the same thing, i dont know if he's missing something or it just needs to be worked a little more, or what. i havent had time recently to mess with it though...end hijack...

If this is true about the line pressure getting weaker with the car running leaner this could be my problem, I'm pretty sure most of the mods I have done have made the car run a little lean without a tune. I will see if I can get someone with a HP tuners with unlimited VINs and lower my shift points also.
