Default 4L60E - Time to change fluid! How?

Are there any write-ups available that show how to change out my transmission fluid? It's been about 20k since I got it installed and I'm looking to freshen it up a bit. What filter will I need? Tools? Is this something that is practical to do myself or just take it to the shop? It shouldn't be any harder than changing my oil, right?

I will be changing my fluid and filter most likely tommarow. I have done it numerous times its alittle more difficult then changing oil as there is no drain plug. You will have to take the trans pan bolts out put a new gasket on the pan and change the filter. I always just pull the filter out and pop a new one on. There is a new ring that comes with it also I think it holds the filter in and they give u a new one when u get the trans kit. I never replaced the ring as it probably wont harm anything. If I remember right the trans takes about 5qts or so. Dont forget to clean the magnet thats in the pan. You should be able to get the whole trans kit that includes filter gasket and that ring at ur autoparts store for about $15.00. Good luck

Do not change the seal for the filter its likley fine and major pain in the ***. It does come in the filter kit but I would skip that laying under car. There are many post about that
