M6 -> TH400 VSS / Speedo Correction Via HPTuners Info
I asked this question and didn't get a whole lot of response which surprised me. If you are using LS1 Edit you may have to rig the tire/gear sized to get the right pulse counts. I didn't want to do that so I went option 2.
If you want to make the change in the PCM you need to change 2 things in HP Tuners on the Speedo section.
1. VSS Pulses Per Rev: Number of teeth on the reluctor wheel / vss count per one revolution of the driveshaft.
17 --> 40
AND
2. VSS Pulses Per Mile: Teeth on VSS / Gear / TireSize specific needs to go from [whatever it is] * [2.35] *note 2.35 comes from the 40/17 as if it is the only change during the swap. If you have also changed gears and/or tire size at the same time then you need to use the formula to find pulses per mile.
I don't know why so many people are going the other route since I assume if you are putting a TH400 in a car you have more done than just a lid & catback and most likely have access to some form of tuning software
