Default 4l60e

Would it be better to install a shift kit or turn the pump up more?

You might get a better response by posting in the automatic transmission section.

more pressure = bad
shift kit = good

it's that simple. turn up the pressure if you want to smoke your 3-4 clutches. that's what happens when you up the line pressure in a 4L60E - you break the 3-4 clutches and you rev in 3rd gear when you try and shift in overdrive.

put in a shift kit with REASONABLE shifts (i.e. not 3 washers that snap your neck, more like 1 or none) and your clutches will last longer due to faster shift times. not to mention i believe it contains updated springs and all kinds of goodies that benefit your trans when installed properly.

i hope to get a transgo HD-2 kit one of these days. hope this helps!
