Default Tranny fluid leak

Hey all......a few months ago i just put in a newly built tranny. After driving it a few days, i noticed a small pool of red fluid under the car after it had sat overnight. I wasnt sure if the tranny or rear was leaking, but i thought i would give it a little while before i had it taken to be looked at....

well it has now been a few months, and it still leaks. It doesnt leak as bad as it used to, but i still find a little pool spot under the car after it sits overnight. They appear to be right under the tailshaft of the tranny, but it is hard to look under the car at the tranny because the exhaust is in the way. i am pretty sure it is the tranny leaking now, so should i take it back to my mechanic for a looksee? anyone have any ideas?

take it back and let them look at it its probably coming from the rear seal or the tailshaft gasket or as i have seen a few times a craked tailshaft housing

well hopefully its not a cracked tailshaft, as i do still have the stock T/A... but for one of the seals or gaskets to be fixed, will the tranny have to be removed again???

no it can all be done in the car..the only 2 gasket that would require removal would be the pump gasket and the front pump seal

Make sure to have the bushing in the tail housing checked as well. I have seen when the vehicle is parked on an incline that the yoke might **** a bit due to the bushing being worn and allow the oil to seep past it. Also when they remove the torque arm bolts that go through the housing, make sure that there is not any oil inside of them. I have seen these housings crack in this area and can be mistaken for a seal leak. Just a heads up. Vince

I just replaced my stock tranny rear housing seal yesterday. Removing was easy but putting the new one is PITA. Patience is all you need though.
