Trouble code P0758
The auto on my '00 SS suddenly wouldn't shift into first and in drive would try to start in what felt like third. When manually put into first it would only go to second and wouldn't shift. It didn't feel like it was slipping and gave no symptoms of any other problems. I literally parked it and went out to pick up some lunch and it did this.
The check engine light was on and after scanning it I got:
P0758- Shift Solenoid B Circuit Electrical
So, after doing a search and finding a couple of different explanations regarding limp mode and it doing exactly the same thing (locking into 3rd, etc.) should I replace the solenoid first and then clear the code or clear the code first and see if it resolves itself ?
Thanks,
Ernie

Actually if the code was PO757 I would agree but PO758 is and electrical code solenoid electrical open or short. Now PO757 is the code set for solenoid B stuck on which is the code comonly set for a converter install because the PCM become confused over the RPM differential

No mods whatsoever within the past year. The converter has been in there for a little over a year, so I am inclined to think it really isn't a tuning issue.
One other question while I am on the subject, is solenoid "B" the same as solenoid "2" which is the 2-3 upshift ? They asked at the dealer which solenoid I wanted and when I said "B" he said that they listed their's as 1,2,3,4.
Thanks again for all of your help,
Ernie
