Default Wiring nightmare

I recently had a OD failure in a built 4l60e and when my tranny guy was pulling the unit he did some test with a handheld and said that I wasn't getting a ground to third when it shifts to fourth and this caused the third and fourth gear carnage. We did some testing and sure enough, two wires in the tranny harness were broken. He is saying that basically third and fourth were pulling at the same time and I guess I'm just wondering if any of you transmission pros have seen or heard of this happening? I just don't want to put this back together not knowing if the problem is fixed. Any suggestions?

The 3-4 clutch and the band or effectivley 3RD and 4TH are normally both on when the car shifts to fourth, I could see where the broken wires could prevent the upshift but I dont see how it would cause a failure of the clutch and band, Now if the PCS wire was shorted to ground it could cause the 3-4 clutch to burn up from low presure. Were there any codes before this happened broken wires should have set solenoid electrical codes
