rpm drop after shift into third
Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem. After my car shifts into third it will drop from 6400rmp to 5400rpm then pause for a split second and drop again to 4400-4000 rpm. I am running a auto trans from RPM transmissions and have a multi disc vigalante torque converter with a 4400 stall. The car is a 2000 camaro that has been converted from a six speed to an auto. I am also running the tci stand alone trans computer to control the 4l60e trans.

Would there be anyway to get rid of that second drop? I know in the controller you can tell it what mile per hour you want the converter to lock up at. What if I moved that up to a speed the car would never hit.

That would effectivly disable lockup an in 4th gear the trans would tend to overheat . Why do you not want it to lockup , Its one of the big advanatages with high stalls when driving around town for effficency . May be you should set it to lockup in 4th gear only as and alternative ?

Yes I do because the min mph=50 so it wont lock until 50mph is met. I was thinking of bumping that up to 130mph because that is where I should be when I cross the the other end of the track. I was hoping that would eliminate the rpm drop once it shifts into third.

I got the full version of the software and looked through all the tables and there was nothing that let me change the lockup as a percentage of throttle input. Looks like I am stuck with just bumping the mph at which the converter will lock. Right now I have it set to 255mph so anything under that speed it will not lock. I want to drive the car to see how it feels but right now in the northeast it looks like snow tomorrow.

some good news now with the tcc min mph=255 I was able to log a little bit and no drop in rpms after the shift into third. Now I just have to figure out where it will make sence to have the converter lock at the track. I think for highway cruising I will set it to 60mph and have the converter lockup delay at 3 seconds.
