Default Ultrabell installation (aka JW ultra bell)

Just a quick FYI~
I thought that everyone might want to know what was causing my interference issue
on a recent ultrabell installation.
Apparently, the early design (pre-2000?) LS1 rear main seal housing is much thicker than the version that is currently in production.
Even though I used low profile button head screws in the top four holes, the rear main housing still contacted the ultrabell.
After a little research, I found that the part number on the rear main housing that
came off my 1998 parts engine had changed multiple times.
I purchased the new design rear main housing, GM part #12615666, which solved the problem completely because it was much thinner than the version that I had.
This method will not require modification to the ultrabell, which would void
the SFI certification.

Good info. I had to notch mine for the four bolt heads like pretty much eveyone had to do. Would have been nice to not have to do that.

Thanks.
I will be racing this car for many years to come, so killing the SFI certification by
grinding/drilling on the 'bell was not a good option for me.
This way I can just pull the trans for inspection and a new sticker every few years
as needed.
