Default Th400 problems

I just swapped another stall in and after a few hard runs my tranny is spewing fluid out the front seal....guess I damaged it when I put the stall in. Question is if I am somewhat mechanically capable, could I just replace the seal myself or should I have my builder check the entire tranny out for other issues?
What are the chances that it is even the seal or did I mess something else up?
I caught it before the fluid level got low fwiw

Thanks,
-Jarrod

I would at least have the pump bushing inspected and in most cases replaced. It would probably be best to take it to a builder to have this done. IMO Vince

Had that happen before, the bushing walked forward and opened up the seal, fluid hit the header and caught fire. I was in the middle of nowhere, kept driving and it eventually stopped leaking-bushing moved back.
$15 later, new bushing and seal, never leaked again, that time I staked the bushing in place.

A bushing driver. Or two thick washers and a bolt I guess might work.
You need to stake it in place, and I'd also put red loctite around it after cleaning the bushing and pump.
Then put the pump on a converter to see if it spins free, if not the bushing was driven in crooked. Put the seal in last, after testing this.

I think I can handle that. I was looking through some rebuild how-to's and keep seeing people stressign to use the teflon O-rings....are these on the pump somewhere?

Teflon sealing rings. This has nothing to do with the leak but I do use them on my builds. Vince
