Default Diagnose my tranny problem. 4l80e

Bought a used 62k mile 4l80e off of car-part.com

Finally got in my truck. 92 chevy stepside. 6.0l etc. etc. I have the TCI standalone computer for it. I haven't done any manually tuning, just uploaded it's generic tune.

Anyways, the tranny free wheels in 1st and 2nd gear, atleast that's the gears it's noticeable. I can rev up to 3500 or so and if it doesn't shift to the next gear and i let off, it will go back down to idle, and I push on the gas and it revs back up to a point before it engages again.

The tune also seems to be a little off. From 1st to 2nd, it takes a little more pedal than normal. And to not rev it as high i have to let off a bit where I know it wants to shift. So that I'm sure is tuning, but the free wheel has me a little concerned.

Has no problem shifting at all. Holds power good. Will rip your neck off under full throttle. Holds overdrive fine.

Ok If I am reading you right what your feeling would be normal, If your in the OD position and let off the gas there is no overun and the truck would feel sorta like it came outta gear and would be more noticable when in lower gears, The rev back up is just catching up with the gear, I use the analagy of a ten speed bike when you stop pedaling similar effect your feet stop but the bike goes on, Now you Should notice it feels a bit different from that if you have it in D then it should have overun,
Hope this helps

This all the time in D and OD. I actually always run in drive because OD doesn't kick in until 60 or so and I'm not on the freeway much. So what makes it do that in D?

Btw, you described it perfectly.

Basically it just comes on and stops the sprag from free wheeling when you let off the throttle causing the engine braking effect,
