After tranny fluid change no overdrive!!
I just installed a tranny cooler, aluminum pan and changed the fluid and filter. Took the car for a test drive and it shifted fine for the first mile. So I turn around to go back home and noticed my rpm's were way up and I wasn't going over 50 mph. So I pulled over and checked for leaks and found nothing. Started driving again and samething, no overdrive. All the other gears work fine. I used castrol domestic atf. It meets dexron 3 requirements. I've checked the fluid level and that's where its suppose to be. I guess it's time for a new trans. Any thoughts?

Didn't unhook anything electical. Just pulled the filter out and put new one in. The tranny has 92k on it. Also overdrive slipped a little goin into gear before the fluid and filter change.

I can put it in OD and it would shift through the gears as usually until it's time to go into OD. Nothing happens then. So I let off the gas while it's still in OD and the rpm's would drop as if it shifted. Once i hit the gas again the rpm's would jump up and say up and the speed would be slow. I was doing 50 mph and the rpm was at a little over 3k.

Drop the pan, carefully remove the filter and inspect the rubber seal around the filter's pickup tube where it inserts into the transmission. Chances are you'll find the seal either missing or damaged.

I think it was stuck in there when i changed the fluid....so I left in there and didn't use the new one that came with the filter. Should the seal easily come out when i pull the filter out? If not then what.....get some tweezers and pull it out?? Also does the tranny have to be removed to get it rebuilt?? Sorry for all the questions.

Some can be a real pain to get out, others just ease out. I'd definitely replace it and re-test before opting for a rebuild.
Second question, yes the trans has to be removed for a rebuild.
