Default odd tranny problem

its been acting up for a few months now, off and on. occasionaly while locked in overdrive it seems to rev a little when you give it some throttle. well next time you get in it, it may act right. well today it was doing it and i just happen to glance at the tranny temp gauge and it was WAY above normal temps. usually it stays at the 1/4 mark "150-160" but today it got almost in the red. oddly it cools down really quick and all gears seem to shift fine and when you punch it, it kicks down and everything just fine. just seems like once it starts slipping OD or lockup in the verter it starts heating quick. im wondering if im loosing my lockup in the verter, because thats when it happens. at 60mph im at 2000rpm and when it starts acting up it will slip up to 2500 when you give it some throttle, just like its not in OD. but you can put it in 3rd and no problems.
