Do you think it's better for me to run out 2nd instead of shifting into 3rd?

Default Do you think it's better for me to run out 2nd instead of shifting into 3rd?

I'm crossing the finish line in 3rd at 5800 rpms which equates to 19% converter slip. I'm shifting into 3rd 300-400 ft before the finishline. I make the 2-3 shift between 120-125mph which calculates to less than 6% slip. I'm thinking of trying a taller tire so I can run through in 2nd instead of 3rd. I should also be able to leave harder on the taller tire. The converter is working pretty good at high RPM, I'm seeing a 1000-1200 RPM drop when shifting at 6900 rpms.

Do you think I'll see an improvement in ET or MPH since the converter will be slippling a lot less. I'll also be just past my peak HP if it works out.

p.s. Don't say to change my rear gear, that's not going to happen.
