yea i dunno if my oils burning or what. I haven't had the car long enough to establish a familiarity with everything but every time i was the car i have to clean the lower half of the tips of a black "film". Seems it is dropping on the dipstick a bit too. It's been reading in the middle of the gridded area and maybe i'm just retarded and that's where it is supposed to be

I had an old datsun Z car that burnt a quart or two between oil changes, it always used to bother me. It didn't smoke and nobody could tell it burnt oil but it still nagged at me until an older guy I worked with told me this "let it burn, oil is cheap"
Ls series motors will use some oil due to their PVC setup, keep an eye on your dipstick and don't let it bother you.

My 60,000 mile '05 V uses about a quart every 6000 miles. Using a little oil is no big deal unless you are too stupid or lazy to check the oil once in a while.
My '97 F-150 has 322,000 miles. It has been using a quart of oil every 1000ish miles for the last 200k miles. I've added about 200 quarts of oil between 6000 mile oil changes with no ill effects. All the cats are original and so are 2 of the O2's. The other O2's were changed because of failed internal heaters not fouling. Truck runs fine with no changes in mileage, performance, or smoothness.
It gives people some weird sense of of pride and mechanical well being that their car doesn't use oil, but in reality, it doesn't mean dick, and "oil is cheap!".

Yep WAAAAAY cheaper than a rebuilt engine! Not to mention the fact that the costs amortized over the life of the vehicle rather than a big lump for an unessary overhaul that may offer little in terms of oil consumption reduction.

I had a GM tech talking to me at the track the other night that asked me about oil consumption. Said there was something listed on these and I asked him to get back with me.....Never has nor have I tried to reach him. Since I hear that people on here are having issues I'll try to track him down, pretty sure we have some mutual friends.
