**** dude...
my temp sensor started acting weird on the way out the California. it would run at around 172 (normal for me is 168 to 174). but when i would cruise at about 50 to 60 mph, the temp sensor (digital) at one point hit 255, but the analog gauge would not move beyond the middle. once i got to my sister house, i saw that my coolant reseviour was really low. so, i got more coolant and let the car sit for a couple days. filled to the cold fill line, and it hasnt got above 205 since then. and the only time it got to 205 was when i was stuck in stop and go traffic in Phoenix. and it was about 112 outside, and it wouldnt surprise me if it was a little bit hotter then that.

That is the oil temp reading. I have been getting some weird unusally high numbers on my oil temp too. I am hoping a faluty oil temp sender is causing it. Anyone know if this is a common failure on the V1's?

well, i have never seen mine above 200. and i have heard that the oil pumps in the V1s are some what garbage, so that could play a role in it. which could also be compounded by a faulty sensor.

Many "oil pump" issues can be traced back to a pinched or incorrect pickup tube o-ring, especially after an "in-car" camshaft swap.
There is room for some flow improvement with the pump's housing in the inlet area, but that is an issue with all (both OEM & aftermarket) of the Gen 3/4 pumps. Gear life for endurance applications can also be improved by Mikronite treatment of the gears and cover, but for street use, may be a bit of overkill.

This,
mine did it one day, and hasnt come back, as long as your water temp is still in the normal range 180-210 then the problem is your oil temp sensor. Cant have one go through the roof without the other if there was true problem

This is good to hear...I was thinkin that if my oil temp was truly as high as it reads my water temp would HAVE to be higher than normal. I asked just the other day on here what was normal...Mine shows normal at startup and runs about 230-240 every day....water temp never goes above 194...Unless I'm in traffic, then it might climb to 204 or so.

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ms-here-7.html PG 7 Post # 98 has the fix for this issue. Same thing happened to mine. I had actually seen 310+ just driving around town one summer day not even getting on it. I pulled the ground terminal off and there is paint on the surface. So the only ground you are getting is through the bolt. And when that starts corroding, your ground is degrading. I took the paint off and put a washer between the terminal and the surface so ensure proper contact. Has worked great so far.
