Default here comes the problems..

Well my 05v with about 82k is starting to act up. Already expected the clutch was going as I get the tractor sounds. Also notice the trannys loud in 5-6 or when driving in city while slowing down. But now the diff is acting up and my real driving concern right now.

All started yesterday while heading to work got a weird lil vibrate and pulled over thinking it was a flat or something but was all good then started driving away and at about 20mph-60 or so I started hearing a whine sound at any gear the car was in and thought the bearing at first as it sounded more from the front pass. Well luckly I work at a dealer and with a few techs heard it from the hanger bearing as I guess its called but tech used a stethoscope and believes its really sourcing from the diff.

Well when driving home in 6th at about 2k and 70mph the car shaked a bit and and went to about 68-69mph and heard a thump thump sound from the diff I'm guessing

So yea I'm screwed

Put her on a lift and check to see if you have any play in your diff by pushing and pulling on drive shaft, if your diff bushing or transmission mount is bad and can cause your driveline to be out of alignment causing more wine in the diff

So just push and pull on the driveshaft to see for excessive play huh. I know the trans mount is good.

Well got off the phone with parts and service at the local dealer. Luckly we are owned by the same company so I get a employee price. A new diff is $850 and shaft as a whole is $350 is what they said by vin if needed which isn't bad I guess?

Also the advisor is setting me up with one there best trans/diff guys as he said for a test drive on thurs. Hopefully we can pin point what's the main or real issues I got going on

Are you sure that diff price is for a V and not a standard CTS. That sounds way to low for a new V diff. A used gen 4 diff sells for that. Hell for that price can you get me one too.

that is way too low a price for a diff. Dealer cost is something like $1300.

Damn maybe he looked at a cts I gave him the vin and said the whole diff. Probally looked at something wrong. I guess $1300 or so ill be having to save as there really ain't no options out there as reasonable replacements

ok so lagged on this but went with the head V tech down at cadillac on a long test drive and let him drive to see what his thoughts about her was..he didnt really hear what i was but did hear some trans noises that said sooner or later but not now ill need to swap that junk clutch and while trans is out open her up and take a look.ans of course did here some rear whine but said to drive her till it gets louder and to enjoy the car since he said eventually it will need a rear from what he heard but said he wouldnt go get one yet.though he didnt hear what i was since its still faint to most i brought up the hanger bearing and said hes not suprised about that

and yea was wrong on prices its $1500 out the door my price for a new diff,so since its going to rain eventually out here and i bought a cover im just going to let her sit for a while and save up some dough to just get the rear, clutch and new mounts and new drive shaft

I'd throw a clutch and flywheel in before I parked it. I bet your dual mass fly is going bad and that's part of your problem.

Also, is save your 1000 dollars and just use the driveshaft on the car now. I don't see anything in your posts that indicates to me that your driveshaft is bad. I would say worst case scenario, maybe a weight fell off the driveshaft and threw it out of balance.

I certainly could be wrong, but I think you could get away with putting a new clutch in it, and maybe try getting your driveshaft balanced.

He said clutch is fine operations wise which is true just the tractor sound when shutting off plus the obvious weight. The driveshaft has that bearing making the sound that others complain about also. But I will still drive occasionally
