Default My Oil Tempertature went above 300 Degrees

My oil temperature was above 300 degrees and the car was beeping at me with an exclamation point showing 320 degrees, I'm assuming this is some kind of sensor has gone bad? Oil is 50miles old and full. Car is stock except for catch can

Bad grounds. Common problem. Mine did it all the time. Tightened them up and problem solved. My problem was at the ground right below the hood strut on the left side of the engine bay in front of the battery and behind the fuse box.

Take the ground off and scuff up the area a little to recreate a solid grounding point.

And if it keeps doing it, ignore it. I tried all the ground tricks, even installed an oil cooler and every
time I tracked my car the temp would hit 300+ on the guage.
As long as your water temp is normal there is no way the oil is actually 300

Turn the A/C and radio off. The temperature will drop.
It has to do with the alternator and the oil temp sensor wire.

You can take the car to the dealership to reprogram the computer.

That "fix" does not work.

It resets the "offset", but is only good for a small range and does not deal with the problem.

The ground by the hood strut is the main culprit, although it is not the only ground that can cause the problem.

This happened to mine 2 days after I read this post. I always wondered why the oil temp. hovered around 230-270 degrees, then all of a sudden it became erratic and the alarm went off.
Wire wheeled the ground bolt under the hood strut, scuffed the paint, applied some dielectric grease, installed the bolt and the oil temp. mirrors the water temp.
One would assume this can cause some other electrical gremlins. I would've never found this problem. Thanks again guys.

What about your oil temp mirrors and water temp? Seems like you forgot to finish your sentence
