Default Garage built fuel pump lock ring tool

Since my pump is coming out pretty soon thought I would build a lock ring tool instead of buying one. Took a couple hours but turned out pretty good. Just cut up some scrap steel and welded it together. Then cut an old socket and welded it to the top. It fits my spare lock ring perfect. Here's hoping that it actually works to remove the lock ring on the tank lol

That's awesome! I don't have the equipment to make one so I bought mine - I think the last one, lol.

nice work!
vice grips sufficed removing and installing the ring for me though. (against the tank tab and the ring tab) squeeze and done... I couldn't get over how easy it was.

Looks nice, but why not just use a brass punch?

when I did my fuel pump I could not get it to lock into place for the life of me. Tried vice grips, hammer punch etc nothing. Ordered the took and snapped right into place. Took a lot of force though, don't think it would have worked without the tool.

This. I'll need to pull mine again soon. I've R/R'd the pump several times using a hammer and punch and I'm not doing it again.

I need to make sure this would work with the trap door. It may be too tall.
