Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler
#82
Just a heads up, I have received deposits from the most of the original 15. And I have been in contact with a few of the stragglers. So either way we are good to go for this
I'm on schedule with production, and I should have some pictures up after the Thanksgiving holiday!

If you end up producing these spoilers and do a good job, be aware that there's a pent-up backlog of needed parts, including: hoods, sunroof-less roofs, extended rocker panels, rear bumpers, and an extended front fascia. If you can turn a profit on small (10-20) V1 orders, I'm sure we'll keep you busy throughout 2016.

Yes I have now come to realize that! Luckily I'm a fast learner
I'm pretty excited for the spoilers, I think they are really going to be nice. Didn't realize the lack of aftermarket support for not only the V1, but even the V2 CTS is lacking. Most of the stuff is made in China crap that has to be imported...
A couple of things that I'm working on concurrently along w/ these spoilers:
Obviously the spoilers are taking priority, but once this buy is fully completed I plan on doing another. However it'll be for a full lineup of parts instead of just one item.

Quick post-Holiday update...
The initial tooling is complete, but I wasn't satisfied so I am re-doing it. This won't affect the timetable for the initial shipments slated for mid-December, but pictures won't be posted this week as I had initially planned. I will be putting them up sometime next week. I just wanted to update this thread since it's been a little while since my last post.

Resin will exotherm during curing, which is bad news when using a plug made from ABS plastic. It causes things to warp, which leads to fitment issues. Which is why I really don't like molding from ABS. Basically, it just means that I've got to move twice as slow as what I normally would.

I apologize everyone, I didn't mean to disappear! I've been working quite literally around the clock to get the tooling for this finished, since I opted to start fresh after the first mold showed signs of warping. I can finally say the tooling is completed as I was able to get it finished yesterday.
I'll have the first spoiler ready to send out this week, and pictures that I'll be able to post here as well.

End of week update...
I finished the first test piece this week, but it was only for the purposes of checking fitment. It was a quick lay up just to make sure there were any problems before making a full production run. I couldn't devote as much time to it this week as I'd wanted to originally, so unfortunately I am still not ready to start delivering final pieces yet.
Up until this point I have not actually placed the materials order for all of these because I wanted to be satisfied before I order hundreds of dollars worth of materials. I am at the point now where I am satisfied on how the final quality will be, and am going to put everything in motion now. That being said, realistically it'll be the end of December when I start sending these out. I won't have all materials in until the middle to end of next week, and they are taking about 2 days to manufacture from start to finish. I won't have all of them out by month end, but the first few will go out.
