Default Fair price

Looking to get into a v1 in the relatively near future and I'm trying to get a feel for the going rate. Perusing craigslist, cargurus, & ebay, seems like there isn't much a difference in asking price between 04-05 & 06-07, despite the better rear end.

So what's the fair price for a "good" condition v1 with 60-90k miles?

KBB says $10k to $19k private party, $12k to $21k dealer.
NADA says $14-$20k dealer.

With these cars aging, it now has mostly to do with the owner and how it's used. Some are garage queens, some are commuters, some are track toys, some are overwintered, some are driven in snow, and some are 2nd or 3rd cars that only see a handful of miles per year. Of those, some are more modded than others.

Where are you located? It would be in your best interest to have someone who is familiar with the platform look one over for you or with you. Or you could go check theirs out and they could fill you in on things to look out for and show you what a V should or shouldn't do.

If I get 15 out of it I'll be happy. If not, I'll drive the wheels of it.

I paid 15,500 for my V, and it is a garage queen no rain, snow, always garage stored. On facebook now in the V, pages there are a few for sale now for decent prices.

This thing is in the same town I'm in, actually talked to the dude today. I've seen his car in passing before, and it was pretty clean.

I wouldn't fret over the rear vs the model years. The Creative Steel 8.8 is the bees knees.

A lot of the earlier models had the rear upgraded under warranty when they broke. Mine had the diff replaced 3 times before I got it. The last time was in 09 with the 4th iteration that I have not had to replace. That's something to check. If the part number on the case starts with a 2, it's the latest.

Thanks for the info, looks like a good group here. Those two posted above look great, but I'm located in Iowa, so that'd be about 9 hours on the road. Not the first time I'd have done that, but takes a little planning to do.

If you're picky you may need to do some driving to find one.

I'm in Texas and just bought mine from Missouri. Paid $16k (have had it for about a month now) and had 60k miles on it when I purchased the car.

The farther north you go seems the cheaper they get, for obvious reasons.

Good luck with the search.

I paid $8500 for mine back in September, 05 with 118k miles. Wasn't perfect, needed the hood and spoiler repainted and had the normal CTS-V issues, motor mounts, shifter, rear diff bushing. It was a daily driver but that is what it was going to be for me so I didn't mine the issues. It did have a Magnaflow Catback and Volant Cold Air Intake so that was a plus.

I have an 05 with 101,000. It had a brand new warranty motor put in at 60,000. Its a commuter, but has creative steel diff and trans mount. 5 new tires.

What is everyone replacing their V1 with? I hardly use it anymore, only in nice weather. A Camaro gets too much police attention, the g8/ss aren't much improvement over a V1 and a V2 seems like overkill for a commuter.

For the price of a new SS, you can get a low mile cts v-sport too. 3.6 TT, 420hp. No manual option though.

For example, mine saw 1,755 miles two years ago. Last summer, it saw 2,200 miles. That's what you want to look for. A lightly used car driven by an old man.

BTW, mine ain't for sale.
