Default Battery not charging codes

I replaced my alternator a while back and ever since i've been having this battery not charging issue when i start the car. The battery light will come on in the dash but as soon as i start driving or rev up it goes away and the battery charges. After that initial battery not charging message I can idle the car and the battery will remain charging. I am getting codes P1637 and P0622. I thought maybe it was the alternator pulley but I compared it with the one i pulled out and its the same.

Is it the ls6, I remember reading a post before where you have to replace it with a very specific one not a parts store one.

With mine it was the diode bridge in the alt causing P1637. It eventually cooked the battery to the point where it wouldn't hold a charge.

My bet is the wire going into the alternator is loose. That's what mine did. Had to get in there with a pick and bend it to make better contact.

If you bought a non gm oem it's the alternator. Its a very common problem when you get a parts store alternator. The only fix i've seen is getting the gm oem.

I had to do the exact same thing after I kept getting intermittent not charging DIC messages from 2 new AC Delco units. Checked the continuity to the ECU and both wires were perfect. Bent the pins from the alternator since they're so skinny and never have gotten the message again.
