Default Steering wheel recovering?

Has anyone successfully re wrapped the "leather" on the steering wheel? One is starting to split in a couple places. Before I pony up to be the first victim wanted to see if anyone had done it. Searching the net has turned up nada

Those threads show folks going with alcantara, but the same companies linked in them will do leather, too. If you want to replace the factory leather with "leather" you might have to look elsewhere.

I'm pretty set on the leather. I always de funk before test drives/ parts runs but that looks like it would get mucked up in a hurry. Wanting to go down the road of a real leather steering wheel and see what comes of it.

Those redline covers look really nice. I wouldn't mind one in leather.

I'm curious about those thumb notches. Not sure how they stay put.

In general, my problem with these re-wrapped V1 wheels is that they're fat and round (like some V1 drivers). Ideally, the wheel profile should be deep but only slightly thicker from the perspective of the driver. A rounded rectangle as opposed to a circle in profile. With deep (as opposed to wide) thumb channels.

The other thing I'd love to see is someone reducing the diameter of the wheel and clipping the bottom. It'd take some skilled work with the plastic spokes and a wrap or hydrodip to finish it off.

I'm going to order a leather one but I'm not increasing the diameter of it. Also putting the carbon fiber wrap over the brushed portion of the wheel.

At that point, you'd probably be better off going with an aftermarket wheel like Grant Revolution Series or another higher end brand.
