Default Steering wheel

I will be getting my steering padded and re-upholstered next week and just wanted a couple opinions on which direction to go.

As for material, I don't wanna go suede as I have experienced suede wearing pretty quickly and not lasting as much as I would like. My three materials of choice would be Leather, perforated leather, or alcantara.

Has anyone had any experience with Alcantara on a part that you touch every time you drive the car?

Any other ideas yall might have?

Side note, has nothing to do with anything. Apparently, Google chrome doesn't recognize Alcantara as a word and tries to correct it as Antarctica. Hm.

Leather--easiest to clean and most durable.

I thought about doing this too, I know some of the vette guy's go with Down- South Vette's and I believe they have molds and can transform your steering wheel into a D-shaped wheel and add carbon fiber. Are you doing the rewrap yourself or having someone do it?

I had my stock wheel redone at least 3 years ago to match the stock Alcantara inserts on the seats.

Still looks great no signs of wear. If i were to do it again, i would get the max amount of padding instead of just the first level. The stock wheel is just so large i wasn't sure how extra fat padding would look.

I used Dallas Custom Steering Wheel, great quality, hand stitching looks better then the factory cover. I know i posted pics but cant find them now.

How much does Dallas Custom charge for something like that? I've been lookin at Auto Interiors of Dallas that will do it for $200 and have it back to me within 2 days. A family friend mentioned them to me.

DSV does awesome work. Did a d shaped alcantara wheel on my C6. One of the best mods I did. Worth every penny.

That looks awesome. I am torn between leather and Alcantara. Hard decision :/.

A couple things I am wondering. Would heat shorten the lifetime of Alc? I live in Texas. It is garaged every night and only gets driven on the weekends, but even then, summers are dreadful.

Had this steering wheel in the south florida sun for three years, not garage kept. Looks the same today as that pic. Go with a reputable shop and you should be good
