Bored - Made my own home depot CAI
I'll get around to lining all the clamps and painting the pvc a little nicer but you get the idea. still have the stock unmolested intake in the trunk incase any technical difficulties should arise
Might change the rubber elbow to a coupler with a 90 pvc. You can see how it starts to distort a bit at the TB. It's so tight to the radiator that it might have to be cut rediculosly short to make the turn. It does feel different I'll tell you that. Still don't have a KN insert.

I also made my own intake in a similar fashion to yours. WOrks great except I have to re-tighten it once in a while. Plus, the 4" inch coupler is starting to collapse inward because of re-tightening.

Looks like ABS plastic, so that's good...stay away from PVC as it gets brittle and you'll get mystery problems edit - is that middle white piece PVC? If so, replace with plastic, or it'll crack eventually.
I made one for my Jeep WK (hemi) and ended up going with the 4" (pipe 4" = 4.5" OD) which in retrospect was too big...it used speed density vs. MAS so maybe that contributed...3.5" ID to me would be just about right for ours...

Sorry, not interested in spending $200 or $300 for the same thing. It's black, it's straight and it removes the stock restrictions. What do you want, Rhinestones glued to it?
Did you see the inside of the stock pipe? This pipe i made is 3.5 inches from start to end. Cost me $20.

While I agree it could look a little cleaner, spending $250-300 on a "kit" is just dumb, imo. A super clean one that looks better than said "kit" can be done for 1/2 the price, if you're a true DIY'er and know how/where to source parts and can work with your hands...
It amazes me what people will spend on simple "bolt on" pieces, especially when a 'name' starts circulating on a forum(s) and everybody swears it's the best, and half of them know nothing about what they're doing, other than reading what others wrote and/or what the sales guy tells them.

says the guy with the WannaV...lol. There is also a good sense of accomplishment and pride in DIYin anything as well. I had a Volant and Magnaflow on my 04 V. I sold them off and went with an X-pipe+gutted stockers and DIY intake. Its custom and has its own unique sound. Besides the stock cat-back is 2.5" and the only aftermarket cat-back that is bigger is B&B. I also didnt feel like wasting all that stainless and the drop-in K&N that came with the car when I bought it. These cars were $52k new, but now they're $15-25k and can be had by all walks of life. Does it get lonely up there on your pedestals?...Jkn guys.

Dont know if youre referring to me, the OP, or both. Dont really matter though. The fact of the matter is, he saved money on a DIY CAI compared to you with similar SOTP dyno figures lol. Like I said, I had a Volant, didnt like the whistle and the sacrifice of low end so I compromised. To each their own. BTW, I'm new to the forums and am figuring out how to post up pics of my DIY CAI. Its looks sophisticated enough IMO. As for magnaflow, which I had and you currently own, the stock also has chrome tips and looks fine to me and passers by. So, all you got to do is throw in an x-pipe and count the money you save by not shelling out $800 on the same diameter pipes. Also, its a little more green to not waste all that stainless or give it to a CTS owner just to have that exhaust thrown out (I realize that concern for mother nature and owning a Cadillac is the defenition of irony lol).

I will straighten the clamps so they are even, and rotate the rubber coupling to the non worded side. Not a big deal lol. Looks no different than any other chinese plastic pipe anyone else ever bolted to their car.
