Default Just test drove an 05 CTSV: Question

just test drove a 2005 CTSV with 57k miles on it. interior and exterior were in great condition.

anyway, there was a significant vibration when i was driving the car and also when i was stopped at red lights. i understand most people are going to say have it checked out before buying but i thought i would put it out there to get opinions.

would bad motor mounts or trans mount cause a vibration while driving? i dont think it was the wheels or tires and the car drove very straight. maybe even the drive shaft is out of wack? i did have an 05 already and it showed none of these symptoms.

Could be the flywheel... any particular speed or RPM? If you're at a stop it could be the motor mounts too...

have you checked the brake rotors? A warped rotor would have a vibration at speed as well under braking. A sponsor on this board offer drilled/slotted rotors with pads for around $250.

It's most likely the motor mounts. That's about $270 in parts and another $300 if you want them installed.

Any chance you can climb under there with a flashlight or is that opportunity now not available to you? If they're leaking, then it's quite possibly the MMs causing the vibs.

I never saw any leaks on mine when it was on a lift or when I've been under it for oil changes etc, but I know they're bad.

I have an '04 V for sale with 51,000mi on it with new engine and diff mounts. It's definately the enine mounts if you're getting vibration at idle. PM if I interested. New brakes, rad and tires(summer/winter) as well.
