2012 5.0 mustang vs 04 V
Well I have a friend that has a 2012 5.0 mustang and he wants to race. His car is completely stock (that I know of) with a manual trans. He is claiming that he Is going to smoke my ***, and he may but I should have results soon. How do you all think it will turn out? All races will be rolls not trying to blow anything! My car just has intake, exhaust, and a tune.

I think the new 5.0 mustang in stock form is a high 12 second car with a really good driver, but most guys are running low 13's. It will be close, but from a roll, I think you will get him.

I raced a brand new 5.0 a few months ago with my girlfriend in the car and a trunk full of luggage. Car still had the paper tag. We pulled up to a stop light next to each other and I didn't think he was even going to race because he didn't rev or even look at me, but when the light turned he took of so I took off a little late. I still walked him down and beat him by about a car to about 100mph. Not sure if it was an auto or not. I think you will win either way though.

From a dead stop I got walked by 1-1/2 by a 5.0 with a CAI. 2 runs from 40 and it was REALLY close.....Each by a fender, but I was willing to push a rod through the hood after losing the first run. If he's willing to beat on it, it will be a close run. Really surprised me how far Ford stepped their game up.

Watch out. Those manual 5.0 are no joke. Like others have said, they are 400rwhp with a tune and CAI. If it is stock, you should take it. They weigh about the same and have worse gears, 3.31 compared to our 3.73.
Motortrend did 0-60 in 4.4 and 1/4 in 12.7 with the new 5.0...which is much better then they did in the V1.

Well win or lose i dont mind i just really want to see how the new 5.0 performs. If i loose i might just have to get my freind with a cammed V to race him just to see the difference. I am really impressed with ford too its about time they make a stang that can run again.

theres only one way to find out.. race him!!! win or lose you have to remember ur car is almost 10 yr old tech..his is the latest and greatest..both are pretty much stock.. itll be a good race. line em up at 35-40 in second...and then 55 in third.. those are the runs that worked best for me before the maggie.

I've seen a few at the track, as said they are no joke. Very easy car to put in the mid/low 12's. I was pretty impressed after seeing some of 'em.
Ford is stepping it up on the GT500, apparently gonna go to a 5.8L motor, and some kind of 4+" LCD display with configurable gauges, lap timer, whatever.
Those Boss 302's really appeal to me, except that they strip out all the interesting gadgets and charge you more for it.

Since the OP has the same mods as me (i think, if you have LTs)...I am a decent driver, but not great. When I raced a stock 5.0 (still had dealer tags), it was really close. But he edged me by about 1/4 to 1/2 of a car length. He is about 200 to 300 pounds lighter and (in stock form) pushing about the same power. I have heard/read the 5.0 bone stock dynos right around 350 to 360 at the wheels..
