Since I can use my stock ballast....should I get these? Or does somebody have a better place to get these?

I order 55watt 6000k for mine from DDM a month ago, still sitting in my garage, haven't had a chance to install them. After seeing these I think I'm going to order up some 35watt ballasts and just resell these 55watts. I like the look of the 35 watt in the pics, plenty of light!

Seeing as how the ballasts for the D1S is almost the cost of a 55 watt D2S kit, is it possible to just get the D2S kit from DDM and install it in the stock headlight housing?

Anyways, I call DDM tuning up and they tell me to test my ballast and bulb by just touching it directly to the +12v and - battery terminals to see if the other will ignite and stay lit or if there was a problem with it... Come to find out, both ballast are bad, so I send them back to DDM tuning after they tell me they won't ship me a new one until I get those back to them and they personally test them, which is another 5 days there and 5 days back for the new ones. Another 2 weeks go by of riding around with one headlight and the two new ballast show up. After hooking up the new ballast, one works and one doesn't. I'm pretty angry at this point. I call and raise hell with DDM tuning, and they tell me I can file another claim since they have a lifetime warranty.

Overall I was pretty pissed with the whole ordeal and their customer service.... It took around a month and a week to get the whole thing sorted out and in the end I still have a bad ballast sitting in my garage.
Having the exact same issue as I type......

you need to reverse the wire harness on the DDM ballast if you haven't already. Every kit I've had from them if you put it on the way it seems is the right way, you need to reverse it...

yeah they're all like that... kind of a joke they can't get the chinese factory to fix it. I've never had one come undone though even though the connector clip no longer engages the tab since they're on opposite sides, lol

We just unsoldered the connections so we could use the clip.

Yeah, but that is all we got from DDM.

We actually ordered a replacement used ballast from online and it was a dud. My buddy just happened to have a 2010 camaro ballast (if I remember right) that we installed in place of the other one. I was hoping that this combo would allow me to not take off the bumper again any time soon and then both the DDM bulbs started to fail.

Was the Camaro ballast a plug-n-play?

Not if I remember right. When I go to replace her headlights tomorrow I can tell you more, but I remember having to do something.

Yes, that. On other products I've ordered from them.

Stay away.

if you're just looking for replacement ballasts you can find them online for about $125-150. you just need to know the part number you're looking for instead of searching for "cadillac cts-v headlight ballast d1s", hah.

4 pin: valeo LAD5GL

12 pin: valeo LAD5G

seems hit or miss whether or not your car has 4 pin or 12 pin. i haven't been able to find a common denominator to know without physically taking them off the car first.

i just got done replacing my ballasts with aftermarket units. i made a set of plates that i could mount the new ballast to and it'd all go back together just like stock. the aftermarket ballasts are much cheaper, but you've gotta be aware of questionable quality based on the fact that they're probably mass produced in a chinese sweatshop. but then again, so is everything else in the world. i buy all of my basic lighting things from diode dynamics.
