there are so many more roads that are better, less traveled, and less "watched" by cops in western NC....just saying

I've lived here my whole life...hell, my last name IS Deal (Deal's gap lineage) and I still avoid driving that road.

RHD what your favorite roads? Might head there on motorcycle next year. I also have heard there are several better roads with less traffic.

I live in Charlotte and been riding bikes up there for years. Try the Cherohala Skyway...

The skyway is nice
the parkway can be fun...but it's more regulated
but, honestly.....just about ANY back road up that way is just as much fun. The road from Cherokee to Fontana is a fun road. 221 is fun. Highway 181 is a fun road after morganton. Highway 221 is just as curvy as the dragon..just spread out a little more, but MUCH less traveled

They run radar on the parkway but I've heard they run timers on the skyway so just make sure you stop for the scenery and you should be fine.

What do yall think of blood mountain? One a slow day I can make the hole 11mile ride without anyone in my way. Plus it has three lane spots for passing.
