Sts-v?
So I saw one for sale and I honestly had no clue they made them. Are they good cars? reliable? Faster than the cts-v? One I saw said its a 4.4 v8 supercharged? Any big problems? They good to 200000 if you take care of them? Would u buy a cts-v with less miles for same price or would you get the sts-v? Thanks for any help it looks pretty sweet.

It comes automatic if memory serves me. Its a nice larger sedan.
The Head bolts are a slight issue, the car is a bit heavy, and you have the same cursed wheel pattern so rims are a rarity...Though i have some that may fit...
If you are lookin for a fun car for DD, this is a good choice. If you are looking to go ***** to the wall and make your car a weekend warrior, then go with the CTS-v.
Honestly though, look at other cars, for the prices are dropping fast, and aftermarket parts for the first gen are becomin scarce.

I drove the STS-V and XLR-V at one of the Cadillac challenge events in 2006. They are automatic, supercharged, heavier, and wider also I believe. The CTS-V was the most fun to drive. Before I got my CTS-V, I was looking around at other cars as well, E46 M3s, and hoping maybe I could find a rare G8 GXP that was a decent price. I ended up with an '07 CTS-V and I really enjoy the car, no regrets.

Owned a 2006 STS-V before getting a 2009 CTS-V.
As good as the STS-V was in terms of luxury, comfort, handling, performance I couldn't handle its ability to snap its axle ( twice ) at the dragstrip ( best ET was 12.8 @ 109 mph).
If you don't intend to 1/4 mile it, there is no question it's a very high quality built piece and in my opinion should be good for well over 200 K miles. BTW, if memory serves these cars brand new were close to a $ 100 K !
FWIW, the CTS-V as the saying goes is a totally different animal. Guess it really comes down to what your priorities are.
If you have the opportunity see if you can somehow drive them both, preferably on the same day and that should make your decision a lot easier. Good luck with whichever way you decide to go.

How is the Volvo R? I saw a guy that had one and it was bone stock. He was talking like he wanted to race my V. Stated it was bone stock, and it looked to be. Said it was something like 340hp or some ****? AWD?

FWIW, had my 2006 STS-V dynoed and it made right around 390 RWHP( with a CAI ) as I recall.
Not bad numbers when you consider it was factory rated right about 470 HP and 440 lb.-ft Torque.
IMO, when it came to the interiors of an STS-V and a CTS V1 generation version the STS-V was more refined with a better appointed interior and had more luxury with better "creature features." ( ie. better sound system )
BTW, the 06 STS-V definitely got better gas mileage than does my 2009 CTS-V. Can remember seeing 23-25 mpg while on cruise. To be expected perhaps considering the 06 had a 4.4 V8 versus a 6.2 for the 09.

Good point about them being a limited build. Had forgotten about that. They only made the STS-V from 06 to 09 as I recall. Stopped production when the 09 CTS-V came on the market.
