Default Help with finding new set of wheels

Hey guys,

I was out in the garage the other day and noticed my driver rear tire was low so I took the wheel off and took it down to the tire shop. They took the tire off and said it was shot. I put fix-a-flat in a couple years ago and apparently it ate up some of the chrome inside the wheel and it started chewing the inside of the tire.

Anyway, I ordered a new set of rear tires (the old ones were getting worn anyway) and they came in the mail so I took the wheel back to the shop to have the new tire mounted on it. After they mounted it they found that air was also leaking through the wheel itself! I bought the car used and it came with a set of Foose "Speedster" wheels in 19x8.5. I looked online today and cannot find a replacement wheel due to it being discontinued and a 6 lug... so im starting to face the fact that I need to buy a new set of wheels.

I want to get wheels that are the same size as my old ones so I can use the tires that Ive already got which are Hankook Ventus V12 245/40 ZR19.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking for wheels to fit my car. Its an 05' CTSV. I did a search and couldnt find anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Place a wanted ad and go to eBay. Then, brace yourself.

www.wheeldude.com has a couple 19" options. Their website only shows staggered sets (19x8.5/10" or 19x8.5/9.5"), but maybe if you call they'll do a set of 4 19x8.5".

You could also look into getting the wheels you have refurbished. There are plenty of wheel repair places out there.

X2, get the wheels repaired they are too nice to change. That and resale would be hard and scarce and if you did sell them someone would probably repair it and have a nice set for the cheap. Post some pics so we can see the extent of the damage...

Heres the wheel with the new tire.

The leak is inside that chalk rectangle. It was also leaking a little from around the base of the valve stem. I think the hole is too hard to see with the naked eye.

A closer up shot. The white stuff is just chalk.

I just have reservations about trying to send it somewhere to get fixed. The closest place is Denver and not sure that I want to pay the shipping if it turns out that they cant repair it for some reason. Not to mention this is my only reliable car and if they can fix it I feel like it will take for ever to ship, wait for repair, and then wait for return shipping.

Without knowing where you're located it's hard to tell if there might be closer options. But I would bet you could call the place in Denver and ask if they can fix a pinhole leak in the barrel section of an aluminum alloy wheel. I'm sure they could also tell you the expected turn-around time.

After looking at that wheel, repaired or not, I'd just go ahead and get a set of OEM's. They can be found for farely cheap.

A decent set of OEMs goes for $1k or more from what I can see.

EDIT: A quick look at eBay shows no full sets, only onesie, twosie all for $300 each and up.

BTW, that is one fubar'd Foose wheel you posted.

The person I talked to at Woodys Wheel Works seemed very knowledgeable. She said turn around time would be 3-5 days and that they could most likely fix it. $350 on the high end. Any other thoughts?
