So that happened...
Backed into my parking space two weeks ago and noticed I had no reverse lights. It was 1*F outside, not a project or problem I was interested in until a serious warm up. The following morning as I was leaving for the airport, I noticed this:
I guess the 3rd brake light doesn't like sub zero temps. I lifted the trunk lid to get a better look and heard some rattling noises. I assumed it was ice inside and wasn't worried as it wasn't going to melt anytime soon. I bought a replacement light while I was out of town and when I got back home to investigate further, it seems the noise wasn't ice. My two projector LED reverse bulbs were rolling free inside their respective housings. My guess is a hard trunk slam when it was -5* probably killed the whole lot. As if our trunk lids aren't heavy enough, add some ice, plenty of dynamat, struts that are useless in the cold and you get a good thunk. Oh well, one more opportunity for an LED upgrade.
