Got to run a 5.0 tonight Headed back on post and after the main gate i pulled up next to a 2013 5.0 an we got to chatting. His mods were intake roush axleback x pipe and tune. My V is bone stock and he asked if i wanted to run em. We did a u turn an headed back to 190. All the runs were from a 40 roll and i started in 2nd he got me by a car and a half the first two and on the last i like to think he misses his shift but i no lifted into 3rd an got him by a car. Anyways jezuz those things move out but im not even mad my stock pig didnt get absolutly drug. I think with a few mods i can get with him honestly they arent as fast as i thought they were but they are still stout for the mods and i did have alot of TA50 in the trunk so i deff wanna run him again real cool guy actually anyways bout to order that ms3 and a fast intake lol.

2011+ 5.0s are stronger than what the average mustang has been for quite a while. The old 4.6s with bolt ons, etc, all relied heavily on gearing or FI to get moving. Full bolt on cars with cams couldn't even cut over 300whp... the 3v cars could cut 340 with everything in it... but not enough. These cars come with 370whp stock, they trap around 110 and they run very low 13s\very high 12s in stock trim. Bolt ons do them pretty decent justice, specifically tunes.

I know the 5.0's with several bolt ons and tune put down around 400-430RWHP and have around a 1-200lb weight advantage on gen 1 v's.
I've never raced one yet, but think you'd need a decent size cam, LT's and a good tune to keep a close race.
Call me crazy but i actually like the sound of the older mod motors. I own a blown 5.4 powered vehicle which i also love... But still like my V more

You can take a win against one with bolt ons vs bolt ons from a roll. From a dig, you'd need cam and bolt ons if both on DR, tbh. All depends on the 5.0s setup, the V's setup, and the drivers.
