383 ls1 vs 402 lq9?
I have seen the LS1 can be built into a 383 stoker and the LQ4/9 can be built into a 402/408 or 427.
Which engine is cheaper to purchase used the older LS1 or LQ4/9?
Usually bigger is better but cost is a real factor.

well a stroker kit will probably be within a couple hundred dollars for both a 383 and 408. the ls1 is a little hard to find with out being destroyed and typically run a little more than an iron 6.0 block. really depends on the seller. really its kind of up to you. im using a 5.3block having bored to a 3.898" and using a 4" stroke to make my 382 and boost it. it all with what your wanting to do in the long run. the 408 with generally make more power n/a but a lot of factors come into play. are you to keep it a roller motor or do solid lift with carb and front dist.? are you wanting to spray it boost it? we need a little more info as to what exactly your looking at doing.
