Try to talk me out of this
So I'm elbow deep in the radical weight reduction and cam swap for my '70. However, the other day I was stuck in traffic next to a silver late model RX7 that had a rather large turbo. I really enjoyed listening to it for the hour I was cruising next to it. And now I have a fever...and the only prescription is a turbo.
I currently have a set of truck exhaust manifolds and the truck intake. I'd have to trade out my CNC ported and milled 241s for something with a larger chamber. Already have head studs and a MLS gaskets. The cam I just installed is nasty and would have to be traded out for a milder stick. Then there's the cutting and welding and swap to EFI.
Sooooo, either talk me out of it, or buy my setup.
I have a vic jr, 800 DP, edelbrock long tubes (one has been 'clearanced'), WCCH CNC ported 241s milled .030, Aeromotive SS fuel pump, MSD 6010, K&N extreme filter setup, a NOS kit and bottle, 4.56 gears for a 8.5" 10 bolt and the Howards Cams Duration 287/295, Lift .612/.612, 110 LSA.

I've already pulled 450lbs out of it! But I've also determined that between starting a business, working overtime at a my day job and my 2 year old daughter, this car will be sitting for a while. Might as well build it exactly how I want it and take my time, right? Get it to 3,000lbs, run as close to 600rwhp as I can with the turbo setup? I think so.

My '71 firebird was surprisingly light. It had a an iron headed BBC and a TH400 and it only weighed 3220 with no fiberglass and all the factory interior. My '77 seems to be way heavier though. Do you know what you're gonna want for that stuff?

And the turbo thing. I talked to the wife about it (blank stare from her the whole time...I was just thinking out loud to be honest) and I realized that I can either put it together with what I want and be able to drive it...but I wouldn't be truely happy. And with the fact that I won't be done with it until next spring, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

my reg lists my car as 2920...um...no. its now 3080 with the ls2 and 3280 with my fat *** in it. nothing gutted, not much aded. all aluminum motor, aluminum griffin rad, megalight bogart wheels, socketless fuel line, stock line steel removed, stock steel gas tank, battery still in factory location, full stock standard interrior. the only things not on the car are the rs grill and headlight doors and the front bumper (i think it looks much better without)
and just for refrence, the car only lost 100 lbs going from an all iron smallblock to all aluminum, and from a massive 4 core copper rad to a 2 core aluminum. that didnt thrill me lol
