I don't have much to add with regards to a. 5.3 in one but in the early 00's I put a stock sbc in a square early model 2wd s10 blazer.

I used the recommended corvette radiator and managed to cram a flex fan in between the two. By in large the truck didn't overheat if moving. Even towing a car in a trailer. BUT it had a major airflow issue pulling air through the rad and out the engine bay. If it was very warm out and I left the truck idling parked the temp would slowly steadily climb till it overheated. I discovered that opening the hood all but eliminated the problem. Hence the airflow problem.

Pick up a replacement from jegs, summit, eBay that will work that should be for a v8 or is rated for power. It isn't anything specific, the flat front of these trucks makes it easy for cooling. For fans, I use factory LS1 camaro/firebird dual fans.

Intrepid fans seem to be the thing in a v8s10 now. Cheap and easy to find and fit most radiators that go in the core support. This is a superior radiator with intrepid fans on my 93 core support. Little trimming and they fit nice. They cool real well too

LS motors aren't particularly hard to cool. I think a lot of that has to do with modern aluminum radiators. I don't know about that particular Jegs fan but I know OEM fans move a ton of air. Find a junk yard pull out that fits your radiator and you will be golden.

Pretty much, I always used the factory third gen camaro radiators and have no problems. With a 3 speed and 4.30s it will get to 200 or so in the summer.

Fuel mileage was horrible, has a 4L80 now. Traction, well, with radials it was not great but it still would roll out if you feathered it. With the 4.30s and 6 speed it did ok with 28x14.5x16 et streets.
