Default Governor?

I have a 2002 Z28. I have a cam, intake, headers, td's. The car is tuned, but I seem to hit a governor last night. How can I get rid of it? If it is the governor. Retune?

You mean you hit your rev limiter. It is set in the tune to where is should be so you do not over rev your motor.

Where did you hit this governor or rev limiter? How fast were you going? What gear? How many RPMS were you at?

If you Z28 came with the basic Z28 package with the 5 spoke 16inch wheels on 235 tires they were speed limited due to the speed rating on the tyres.
I’m pretty sure you can re-program it with a hand held performance re-programmer.

It's the governor. I definitely didn't bounce off rev limiter. Well the needle was pinned so I'm guessing around 160mph. I was in 5th gear at about 5k rpm.

Why do you need to go faster than that?? I think the factory setting was around like 164 ish....

You mean you top end limiter. It is set @ 162 and you can change it. Mine is set @255,like the car will ever see that.

Without Z rated tires, the speed limiter is 118. With Z rated it is 162. Tuning software can raise it.

Then I must of been hitting 162mph. Cause it was WELL over 118mph. Looks like I need to get it tuned to a higher mph...
