Default engine removal techniqe!?

hey guys ,fixin to start the process of removing the engine in my 02 ss m6,.
and im working out of a small garage at my apartment complex,.. my deal is i was thinking because of the small space i have to work with, i was going to remove the intake and heads then pull the tranny back.. then pull the long block out the top with leaving a/c and power steering pump in the car.. i wanted to know yall's thoughts on this method ,and if anybody has ever done it this way... time is not an issue because its not my daily driver and i plan on taking my time working on it little by little everyday after work.. i have jack stands and a cherry picker and really didnt want to drop the k member. .
thanks again for your time..

Sticking this here in Camaros.

You'll need to remove the hood, intake manifold and engine valley plate. Get a lift plate, do a search for them. It bolts where the valley plate goes.

I made my own:

Thanks for the info, would you say it's difficult? And can I just unbolt the t56 from the bell housing and pull it back? Or is it more complicated than that?

Either way you do this job, it's not easy. Getting to all the bellhousing bolts is difficult. You'll need to back the transmission away from the motor.

Its actually pretty easy dropping it from underneath. There are some things that I would do different next time to make it even smoother.
