^^^ I agree- you'll get a lot of different responses for filters. Kind of like asking someone what brand of oil they use.....
Personally- I use K&N Oil Filters.

I worked at Oreilly's for 3 years while in college. I always highly recommended Wix filters when the customer was unsure of what brand filter they wanted. I think highly of their quality and run them in my other vehicles, lawn equipment... Atv's etc...
I only go with Mobile1 or RP filters on my toys... Just gets the warm n fuzzy.

I use K&N on everything because of the welded on nut, mainly.
You also have the option of the long (truck) or short (car) filter. There's also a small chance that your oil pan has been replaced recently, in which case you'll have to use the newer 22mm filter instead (figured this out when I bought a new pan from GM, they switched the little adapter fitting for an "updated" part.

Great filter, no doubt! That feature just didn't lure me in.

I have never used a FRAM, but I am familiar with them and even bought one to cut open out of boredom one evening at the store. (they really do have glued "cardboard" end caps)
I did, however, like the grip that they sprayed onto the filter bodies, I wish other filter brands could copy that idea.

I agree the Orange can Fram should be avoided but the Ultra is a great filter.
There's a lot of good information on that website as far as oil and filters go...

This thread shows a cut open Fram Ultra after 19,000 miles. Id say it shows the Ultra as a pretty stout filter, with a 99% filter rate of 20 micron particles. Its a damn good filter at a fraction of the cost of the K&N.

"(Whatever Oil) has .2 more PPM of Zinc Hydrocloroxididelphosphateomnicrap than (another brand), CLEARLY its a superior additive package!"
"I run (whatever oil) for 30,000 miles, sending it in to Blackstone for OA and it had (blah blah) amount of (whatever particle of crap), I believe I can get 20,000 more miles out of this oil!"
Sorry, its an oil change... Just do it. Run a good filter, and some good oil, watch your level and pressure.
