Anti-Theft Problem! HELP!!
97 V6 Camaro that won't start due to anti-theft system. Put the key in and turn on, the security light steadily flashes. It doesn't stop flashing and it doesn't go out. Turn the key to start and it does nothing, like it has a dead battery. It acts as if it is always armed. The ECM and BCM have both been replaced and did nothing. The resister in the ignition key tested out fine. Don't know what else to do. I would love to just disable the system all together, but have been told it would disable everything. The only other part that I noticed in the block diagram that hasn't been replaced is the anti-theft deterrent relay. I don't know where this part is located. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge. PLEASE!! Thanks.

What about the contacts in the key cylinder that the chip in the key rests against when inserted? I had an '87 Corvette that had the same problem and it was the key cylinder.Have it checked with an ohmeter with the key in it.

you can easily disable VATS while leaving the rest of the security system intact. google "VATS Bypass" or "VATS Disable" i forget which gets better info. essentialy your looking for directions on installing a remote start which requires a VATS bypass/disable.
