Default is nitrous cheating?

hey guys, i have a question... i post over at svtperformance and got their point of view so now i only think its fair to get you guys' point of view. well my buddy has an 02' SS lid, headers, cam, and thats it other than exhaust. he dynoed 387 rwhp. i have a 97 cobra with intake, exhaust, and all the other jazz. i put 290 rwhp. so i now have 4.10s and nittos, and just put nitrous on. starting with a 75 shot and then move up to a 100. well i have been wanting to race my buddy since i got it done and we tell each other about everything we do to r cars. i was excited about his cam, but when i told him about the nitrous he just kinda was like whatever, did not seem to care. well my gf was talking to him the other day and asked him when we where gonna race and he flat said "im gonna beat him", and she said "i dont think he really wants to race cause he thinks he can beat u, but wants to see how he has improved". well he did not say anything for a minute and then said "he has nitrous, thats cheating" basically that is what he said. not long ago he was all about me gettin a supercharger, but now he is callin me a cheat? wtf! y is he been like this? and what do you guys think about nitrous as chevy guys?

i can understand what he's saying. i have always had mixed views on power adders, but its certainly not cheating unless you and your friend are being honest and someone holds back on the nitrous.

the not racing you thing is weird to me. i have a couple of race buddies, an RX-8 and a GT. no matter what we do, we still are up to race, its fun. we don't even change are setups and still race, and i continuously walk 'em its just for fun. sounds like you have a really competitive friend.

winning is winning

In my opinion the only time Nitrous is cheating is when there is money on the line and nitrous is hidden and denied.

Other than that run what you brung!

I don't consider it cheating. If he wants to put nitrous on his car, then he can. If he dosen't, then oh well.

Going fast is going fast.

Too many variables to tell. How large a shot are you running? You guys correct me if I'm wrong, but NOS is generally more effective in the lower powerband than the upper without going to addl. stages. For you to get the advantage you will need, you will have to use the squeeze fairly early and it may be difficult to hook. The LS1 will really began to pull in the upper powerband so I would say it will be a drivers race but I would give the advantage slightly to th LS1. Again, depends on how big a shot you run and how good both of you drive. But remember, he has 378hp all the time, you will only have your addl. power with proper bottle temp.,pressure and volume. When you run out or if one of those variables fails, you will loose.
Nothing like making power on motor. Unless you run out of gas

Cheating is defined as breaking a rule...I've never seen a street racing rule book.

Usually the people that say using nitrous is cheating are people that cant appreciate a well running nitrous car and they want to punk out of a race. As was stated above.....power adders are power adders.

whining about nitrous being a cheat is BS. As stated above, unless you lie about having it, run what you brung and hope you brought enough!

IMO N/A>FI>N20
Not saying that I really have anything against either one, but my personal preference would be a supercharger over a bottle. I guess I just don't really like the idea of only having the extra power when I have the bottle open and hit the button in a street car. Just my 2 cents.

the nice thing about NOS cars is it can be wicked when you want, and civilized when you need it.

Tell your buddy to grow a pair and line up with you. Its not cheating if you TOLD him it was on the car. Its only cheating when you deny its on the car.

If you have nitrous and you win it's not cheating, however if they have nitrous and you lose .... then of course that's cheating
