I believe there is a spot on the block right above the oil filter where you can tap a mechanical oil pressure gauge into....should be the same spot where the stock oil pressure sending unit goes....

What year do you have? If I remember right, the computer doesn't need oil pressure info to run if it's not a Vette. You can take out the stock sender and use the hole behind the intake for yours. OR you can get a Y fitting and screw both sensors into that, OR you can bust the top off of the stock one, tap it, and screw your fitting into that one. OR you can tap the piece above the filter like previously mentioned.

just buy the plate that goes over your oil filter.. get a corvette one cause the corvettes have oil temp, and that is where the sensor goes.. so if you buy one, just put your oil line there

You can buy an adapter fitting to hook it right into the stock sender location. Converts the metric thread into a standard 1/8 NPT.

Just an FYI, I just used the adapter to put a VDO sender behind the intake and the new sender is too fat so I had to add an angle adapter. Ace hardware had the angle adapter for $3. It was actually a 90 degree, female in, female out adapter so I needed a male-male nipple to mate the two.

Just take the LS1 sender, break off the top black plastic part, clean out the inner of the Alum bottom part. Drill and tap for the correct NPT size of your Gauge fitting (1/8" NPT ?) and you now have a adapter for nothing but the cost of labor, Priceless..!
This is what I have done..
And as far as being more accurate, that all depends on the gauge and who is the manufactor.. Only real con is that you are running a tube with hot oil into the cabin of the car and if it breaks, leak or come apart, you have hot oil spraying all over the place (that include you and the passenger). But most likely, odd is that it will never happen to you.

On a side note yes the factory uses electric gauges, but they are not accurate. The temp gauge in 99 and newer are just dummy readings. I would rather have mechanical gauges as well.

This... the very small percentage of inaccuracy (if there is any) in the newest electric oil pressure gauges is well worth it over not having to run hot pressurized oil into your car (same as mech. fuel gauges). Think of all the times you've ran a vacuum/boost gauge and had a leak/issue. Imagine instead of harmless air and a poor idle you have oil or fuel pouring through your car haha

Also, If you race at any sanction (NHRA, etc) event or racetrack.. They don't allow the mech gauge (fuel and oil) to be route into the cab of the car.. ... even if you just doing test and tune, the track may not allow you on to the raceway.....

i just ran into the same issue. Auto meter makes the water temp adapter and oil pressure adapter for the stock locations.

So only the corvette computers need an oil pressure sensor input? If I were to delete the stock sensor and replace with an aftermarket guage and sensor it wouldn't cause me any issues?
