You will be able to mate your 700r4 with the correct Flexplate or spacers. You will also need to get a TV cable setup. There are a many threads on this subject both for kits and homemade setups. Try searching.
As far as mounting the engine, most any of the plates will do, Just need to find the correct one to keep everything in line.
Most of the Truck setup from the LQ9/4 should work out for you.

Hey Dave, Did you have any luck finding that adaptor? Since you have an 80E at home already, just for the simple fact of tunablility I would stick with it over the 700R4.

Have you addressed the wiring harness issue yet?
What did you do?
I'm going to put an LQ9 into my '72 K5 with a 700R4.
I will use Jims Performance to modify my harness but I'm not sure what tranny interface I'll need for best fuel efficiency.
