Default RX7 swap possibility

I ordered a lingenfelter 403 shortblock the other day to build for my RX7. Well a friend of my dads is pulling a ls1 from a 98 camaro. He said i could have it for the swap or for parts. FREE!!He is putting a brand new LS1 383. The motor has 121,xxx miles and makes a ticking sound when it's cold which i assume is piston slap from what i know of the earlier LS1s along with the perimeter bolt heads.. So heres my idea borrow a friends truck, drive up to huntsville,al get this motor and i can have my car running in a month after i get all of my swap kit from hinsonsupercars. my questions are? how do i eliminate the piston slap if this is the problem? and would it be worth it to do to this engine if i'm only going to keep it in this car for 3-4 months? Also don't the earlier LS1 use exhaust gas recirculation? i'm not sure exactly how it works but i do understand that it robs a bit of power. How would i go about removing this if it does have it?

You can install the motor and sort the swap items out with it until the new motor has arrived. In the pcm you can turn all egr and other unwanted codes off so the motor won't be affected by the lack of.

do you intend to use the same wiring harness for each engine?
