Fabricated brackets
Hey guys, I'm thinking that it would be helpful if we could have a thread with pictures of fabricated brackets for things like alternators, PS pumps, etc. I've been thinking of how I'm going to mount my alternator since retaining the VVT means that I can't use the F-body front accessory drive, & I'm told that the truck accessories will mount it too high for the hood. (I MAY have a way around that though.)
But in the event that my "Plan A" doesn't work, it would be nice to be able to have a listing of ideas to fall back onto - hence this thread. Plus, I'm sure that I'm not the only one here who would probably find it handy to have some different mounting ideas all in one place...
Thanks guys!

I would've loved to see a thread on (affordable!) front acc drives before I bought mine. That along with fitment issues. I ended up with the CarShopInc brackets because I didn't have the new alt/PS pump, etc. However, the 5.3 block is missing one of the mounting holes for the carshop stuff. Ended up chopping the idler bracket in half to mount the stock PS pump bracket on the head.

This is alt reocation bracket I created for my swap. It is set up for the f-body acc. I know it want fit the newer gen 4 f-bodies it hits the shock tower but not sure about the gen 3 cars. It places the alt on the pass side outbd head 17 inchs from the C/L of engine (refer to pic in link below).
Here is the link if interested.

Here are some pics of my homemede ac relocation brackets going into a 67 chevelle. The pulleys are from March performance . the brackets are some flat steel and some dom tubing welded together .JOHN

I found a couple pics of my alternator bracket. I'm using truck accessories and only running the alternator and the water pump.

Rocky I am currebtly installing a LS2 in my 67 vert, the motor is out of a 06 GTO and the alternator is now on the driver's side of the engine near the steering box. I was wondering if you could email me at kochevy67@yahoo.com to see if you could fab something up for me.

Cool, thanks solo.
Rocky, I'm sending you a PM with my mailing address so that my commission for that sale doesn't get "lost"... *cough, cough*

Just a thought... when you setup or pick a system with a tensioner make sure the tensioner is the last thing the belt goes by on the back side (loose side) of the crank. If you dont, you'll probably end up with belt squeal.

just a note - started engine recently and the ac bracket and pulley system are working fine so far for anyone I have sent templates to. JOHN
