The LQ4 is a 6.0L. What engine do you have? Whats it say on the block? Heads depend on which one you actually have!

The lq4/9 both are 6.0's. The lq4 has slightly lower compression and is found in the 3/4 ton trucks and H2's. The lq9 is found in the Escalades, SS trucks, and Denalis. As for the 5.3, there are a few different ones. The block will say 4.8/5.3 on the back if it's a 4.8 of 5.3. The 6.0's say just "6.0" on the back.

Do you mean 241? If so, those are LS1 heads with center bolt valve covers.

Run the stock 5.3 heads. I have a LS1 book that tells the mods you can do for different LSX engines. If you don't get the correct size chamber you can actually lose power. For example in this book they put on a set of 243 heads (from an LS2/LS6) on a 5.3 and actually lost power. I have a 5.3 in my 1500 Silverado Extended Cab 4X4. It scoots for such a large vehicle and it is stock.

however the newer 5.3 and 4.8 come equipped with 243 and 799 heads.
from the factory. the chamber issue is really not big of a deal.

stay with the stock heads. they are more than enuff for the build

I think the newer 5.3's with those heads have different pistons to make up for the larger chamber of the 243 and 799 castings. Compression makes a BIG difference on these motors. I just shaved my 5.3 heads .045 and WOW.

I wasn't aware that they are using those heads on the new 5.3s. They are a decent stock head.

They have flat tops like the 4.8L's to increase CR with the 243 for the high HP ratings started with the L33. All the 07 up trucks 5.3L are 243 now.
