Andrew,
I'll defer to you concerning questions on Mazda diffs, since most of what I know I learned from reading posts from you and Ray, but I believe the carrier shims are the same on the FD and the 8... Would that indicate the -8 runs an 8" ring gear?

Edit: Kaaz lists the same part #s for the FC Turbo, FD and RX8...

saw this thread on rx8club about the diff gears being shared with the S2000 and that opens up some choices for a lower geared ring & pinion but I dunno about how strong the options are...

Hello.
I might possibly get this RX8 that has been swapped with a Toyota engine recently but the owner says the cluster isn't working. What exactly is the solution? How can I get the cluster to work if I get the car? Really interested.
Regards.

Here is a new video from last weekend.
The car ran 12.831@110.57, on stock motor.
We still need to get the cluster to work.

I just fired up my M3/LS1 conversion tonight, and I'm trying to get my friend to do an LS swap in his 04 8.
MotorStilling, how have the mounts been holding up? If they are doing the job, then you should seriously consider have them machined 10-20 at a time and selling them. The hardest part is the mounts, aside from the wiring, but if there were mounts available for purchase then alot more people would seriously consider doing this swap

you just have to keep your stock computer in the car still.....its easier and cheaper.....but you have to find somewhere to keep the computer.....there is a lot of ways to do it....but the cleanest way is....installing the sensors you want to work into the motor and just wiring them to the stock computer yourself (or keep your stock harness in the car and cut out what you dont need, this way gets cluttered)....my wrx like this allowed everything including things like abs to still work.
Its actually very easy to do......
i wired the T-56 VSS to the input of the wrx computer and it reads perfect.
wired the tach signal from the camaro computer to the tach signal into the wrx computer.....reads perfect
i drilled out the open spot on the top of my waterpump (not the proper location though) and put my wrx coolant temp sensor in and wired it to the wrx computer
tee'ed off the oil pressure sensor and put the subaru oil pressure switch for the low pressure light and wired it to the wrx computer..
the fuel level is normal but does run through the computer....didnt do anything to it.
