Default Need info: LSx into a 1998 Blazer

Well between my friends and I we've already done a couple LS swaps including an LS1 into both a C3 Vette and into a few FC RX7s. I want to do a daily driver for myself now. My buddy has a clean 98 Blazer with a blown 4.3L. I want to take it off his hands and put an LSx into, most likely just a 5.3L since they're readily available and cheap. Basically I need some info. Fabricating mounts/moving things around etc are no big deal for us. What I'm more concerned with is will a 5.3L bolt up to the 4L60e that is in the truck already (it's fresh) and work with the tcase and all that. Also, what can I do so I can still pass OBDII inspection. Here in NY that consists of hooking into your port and making sure there are no codes and that all the readiness tests are good to go. But I believe that if the truck says 1998 Blazer and the computer comes up 2001 Silverado or whatever that it will be an issue. Thoughts? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to do this one on the cheap
