Default harness for conversion

Who has the latest thing at a reasonable cost for a ls1 conversion in a 2nd gen TA. Got screwed out of the donor car harness so, aftermarket it is. I know a few vendors have'em for around a $1000.00 but, damn! I have a 2000 PCM if that helps. Thanks for recommendations and PM me if that is the better route.

If you're like me and you've got the patients and are looking to save some money, you could always rebuild your own harness. There are a lot of write-ups out there on how to build your own stand-alone harness. The truck harnesses go for low money (watched one on ebay go for under $50) and can be repinned to work with your ecu

look at lt1swap.com, theres about everything you need to know there. theres also a couple good writeups on thirdgen.org, search for threads started by Pocket, he's a wiring guru. breaks it down nicely, so you can see what you're getting into. as long as you are patient and get all the wiring diagrams that apply to what you have, its really not that hard, just time consuming mostly.

+1, theres a drive by wire harness on ebay for 50 right now

check out the standalone harnesses on ebay. they are all pretty good and less than 500 bucks

Build your own..I did it with a LS1 F-body Harness..cost me $200.
To prove a point, I built a 99-04 LSx harness for $14 using a collection of 4.3L S10, 3rd gen and FWD econo car connectors with an astro van PCM

Money can be saved, but its not the easiest thing to do

Stand alone is just like the name implies. It runs the engine by itself and ONLY the engine. These often include a fuseblock/relay center for running the engine on practically anything from a 34 ford, to a 93 truck to a lawnmower. Anything with a battery and an IGN switch

Most companies will not mate your original harness to the stand alone to run all of your gauges. They often do run ample wires for DIY

Actually would not mind or should I say not afraid to build my own harness. Since motor and tranny are the only things that will be controlled, a bunch of wiring should be eliminated, right? All I have is the PCM, no plug for that. Can you guys recommend a source for connectors and the PCM plug? Or is the cost of new parts getting up there to a ready made harness? I do like the idea of routing my wiring cleanly to fit my application. Thanks for the time and input.

These guys will have all the connectors needed to do your harness.
May be cheaper to grab some from a scrap yard, but if that is not an option, efi connection or ebay is a good choice.
